Teacher's perspective

A year ago I wrote an article on different roles a teacher plays. The roles mentioned were: didactic, pedagogic, custodial, mentorial and leading. It was my own opinion an a teaching profession. Today, I’d like to focus on a synthesis of those roles into one cathegory.

Multitasker

As far as my opinion is concerned, a teacher is a multitasker. S/he has to do several things at the same time and need to be really focused on her/his work. A teacher is supposed to lead her/his students, help them to acquire knowledge and skills, inspire them to think by themselves, to be creative and able to live in a society, to take up initiatives and to be willing to get on well with others.

How to cope with multitasking?

There are several things, wothout which I can’t imagine my life as a teacher:
  1)      A calendar – as a teacher you need to be well-organised. There are thousands of dates and deadlines about which you have to remember: dates of conferences, teacher-parent meetings, tests and homeworks, as well as deadlines for documentation and papers.
  2)      A notebook – it should be divided into several sections: student lists with their names and the space for notes, information about contests, additional activities, and school events.
  3)      A calculator – to help you with assessing students’ tests.
  4)      A multifunctional device for printing, scanning and coping various tests and exercises for students.
  5)      A laptop  - for various presentations and interactive activities.
  6)      A cup of coffee – to make your day at work pleasant, especially during longer breaks;)
